Whose the Crazy One?

“Why are you single?” All My Ex-Girlfriends are crazy.

I ran into an ex-fling yesterday and he commented on my appearance. It was raining so I had on a vintage members only jacket with a knit hat and water-proofed Doc Martins. Last time I saw him I was in a sun-dress. The few times I saw him it was summer time so my clothing was often minimal.

My short “boyish” haircut peaked from under the hat and I had on minimal makeup. He looked at me with almost a disgust on his face — as if I wasn’t pretty enough for him. That’s one of the reasons we stopped talking to each other. He said I was “too into my looks,” which ended up being a projection for his own insecurities.

He stared at me for a second too long before he told me that I look too much like a little boy, and he’s glad that we didn’t work out because he doesn’t know if he can handle a girl who doesn’t look like a girl.

So slightly homophobic and insecure? I’m sensing a gross pattern.

On our second date, he seemed wonderful. He was funny, kind, had a great smile. Why are you single? He told me that his last 4 girlfriends were all short term and they all had a crazy streak.

By the fourth date, he had made me feel insecure about having male friends and made me to believe that all my male friends want, married or not, is to sleep with me.

By date number 6, he told me I wasn’t as pretty as I thought I was. “You know how to take cute pictures of yourself with good lighting and…
