Especially when they aren’t told, especially around the holidays.

I pulled up to my homegirl’s house at 6:45. I knew I was going to be a little early, but I had planned on helping her set up for the Friends Giving that was happening at her house that night. I was one of 6 people — where I only knew two of them and had heard of the others. I was excited, but nervous to be around new people.

I knew I was going to meet people I didn’t know, so I showed up with my best foot forward. I wore a classic outfit, not too low cut, not too tight. There it is. There is the kicker. She pulled her phone out, showed me a photo and boom, he walks through the door.

He was tall, had long dread-locks, wore a hoodie and jeans, his shoes were kind of dirty. He had a big smile, a nice voice, and an obnoxious laugh. First Impressions.
