I Started Asking for Intentions On The First Date
And I can say successfully, that I have weeded out the ones who have no intentions of actually starting a relationship of sorts.
It’s funny how much can change in the course of one date. I’m pretty proud of myself for this one.
After dozens of first dates and countless chats on the apps. I finally had a game-plan to spot the red flags and get to the answers quicker.
There are three things successful relationships need from the very first date; connection, chemistry, and clear intentions. The first two are usually recognized immediately, but the third is something that nobody really asks until date 4 or 5. So I started asking at the end of date 1.
“So, what are your intentions?”
This question is often met with a “huh?” or a “uhh, I guess I don’t know.” or my favorite, “wow don’t event want to wait until date #2?” I’ve been called pushy, told I was ‘too forward’ and the funniest ‘Oh you’re one of those girls’ as if not wanting to waste any time is a bad thing.
And yes, depending on how they immediately react is dependent on whether a second date will happen. My most recent endeavor (mandeavor?) answered flawlessly and without hesitation and not only was it refreshing, it was sexy.
He answered with confidence, he knew exactly what he wanted and instead of asking me the same question back, he asked me an equally thoughtful question and not only kept the conversation going but…
